I am smack dab in the middle of one of life's liminal spaces, and it's deeply uncomfortable and deeply lovely -- depending on the day (in other words, my mindset). This essay is so helpful, both practical and inspirational. I love this:

"Transitions don’t need a plan.

They just need your presence.

You’re not behind.

You’re becoming."

Post-It note on mirror now in process!

Laura, I’m touched by your reflection. “You’re not behind. You’re becoming.” came from a deep place in me. It means so much to know it found a home on your mirror. I can feel the in-between you’re in, how it holds both discomfort and possibility, depending on the day. Thank you for reading and for walking alongside me in this space.

I needed to read this today! And share some with my 89 year old dad, fresh out of the hospital and struggling with transition as well. Thank you for sharing your journey.

Ann, I’m so happy this touched you today—and you’ll share it with your dad. Transitions can be challenging, especially with uncertainty and change we didn’t ask for. Wishing you both gentle strength as you navigate this time.

And I have to say—your paintings are truly breathtaking. The depth and scale of your work stay with me even long after I’ve seen them. One day, I hope to find a way to bring one into my home.

Thank you so much, connecting with others is such a huge part of why I paint and what I hope to do after I’ve created something and it’s so meaningful that my work resonates with you, especially. I would love for you to have something of mine. We will keep in touch and make it a reality.

That means so much, Ann. I believe in surrounding ourselves with art and beauty that speaks to our hearts—and your work does just that for me. I’d love to stay in touch and see where that possibility leads. Thank you for creating with such soul.
