So true Susan, finding your spirit after such a deep disruption as you’ve been through is key. I sincerely don’t know what I would do if I lost my wife and life partner, but I do know what I have done in my own health crises.
At first you “Decode” the current situation (as you so courageously have done), then you “Align” in Dynamic Harmony to survive and the past year must have been quite a challenge so congratulations for passing through such an unpleasant period.
While it will also be challenging in 2026, I can see you are on the path to finding that gem in your spirit that brings back your smile, that force of life you just can’t turn off because you know this is you living your true destiny. In all of this I’m not talking religion or ritual but the true inner spirit of you that speaks the truth, that passes through misery and darkness because it gives you fortitude in knowing your are doing exactly what you were put on this earth to do. In there, in that deepest pocket of you is real peace and a purpose to thrive.
You will never forget Bill but you will push through and I am sure he would be proud of the Susan 2.0 you will become. Enjoy your 100 acres and magnificent shoreline and may 2026 return you to real happiness.
Paul, thank you for such a thoughtful and generous reflection. I appreciate the care with which you read and responded.
I especially identify with your point about decoding reality before anything else is possible. Loss has a way of stripping away illusion, and learning to face what is—without rushing it or trying to “fix” it—has been essential for me.
I don’t think of this season as becoming a new version of myself so much as learning how to live honestly within a changed life. Bill will always be part of that truth. What I’m discovering, slowly, is that purpose and peace don’t disappear with loss, but they do ask to be re-understood.
Thank you again for your thoughts and encouragement. I never imagined this would become my reality, yet here I am—still loving Bill, and learning how to let life grow around that love.
Such a great piece, Susan…. Thank you so much for sharing your insights; especially given the grief from which it emerged. And I’m very sorry for your loss

Susan it was my pleasure then as it is now. None of us imagine our future realities until they become the present, but with each day it get’s easier.

Thank you so much, Mark. That means more than you know. I really appreciate your kindness.
